The Centre for Urban Mental Health

Finding new pathways to improve mental health in the city.

For the first time in history, more people live in cities than in rural areas. Unfortunately, city life can be challenging for mental well-being. How can we help people thrive in an urban environment and reduce the burden of mental disorders like depression, addiction and anxiety? At the Centre for Urban Mental Health, researchers from different fields use the tools of complexity science to find answers.

You are invited to join the International Conference on Urban Mental Health in collaboration with EACLIPT hosted by the Centre for Urban Mental Health of the University of Amsterdam, on March 21 and 22, 2024, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The conference is open to practitioners, academics, policymakers, students, supporters, and allies who are interested in sharing best practices and learning more about mental health in the city, with a focus on interdisciplinary research with complexity science as a backbone.
