Jeroen has photographed in many places, usually a place of crisis.

HIS LIFE

Jeroen Oerlemans at work

Jeroen was born on 15 May 1970 in Vught in North Brabant, the Netherlands. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Political Sciences from Amsterdam University and then studied photojournalism at London College of Communication. As a freelance photojournalist, Jeroen worked in areas of conflict worldwide, and in the last few years mostly in Afghanistan, Libya and Syria.

Jeroen lived in Amsterdam with his wife Boes and three children, Yves (2007), Anna (2009) and Nanouk (2011).

The foundation

The Jeroen Oerlemans Foundation has been set up by his family and friends in his memory to keep his work alive and to support his children.
